Flooring

So I never posted pictures of the transformation of our 1960's flooring. We are now all up to date living with 2013 flooring. We traded in our old yucky green carpet for beautiful brown and cream plush carpet with thick, thick padding!! And our old yucky dingy brown vinyl flooring.....replaced with beautiful dark hard wood. Amazing!! We love it!!

No TV for 40 days...Giving up TV for Jesus...what is a girl to do, you may ask?? She gets down to business and fills her evenings and weekends with other things. More productive things. More things glorifying to God. Tonight for starters, I started over with the checkbook. Now this is the disclaimer...if you are squirmish around people who don't balance their checkbooks every month, you should stop reading right now. When it didn't balance a while back (or a year or so) and I just couldn't get it right, I just stopped trying. I know, you are just cringing at that thought, but we just kept an eye on the account online and were diligent with writing things down, transfering when needed, and so on. It's been fine (wink, wink). Tonight I am trying the excel register. Formulas are all set up and rolling and I just started over. We'll see how things go this month and hopefully when the bank statement comes next month, we'll be "right as rain"...or least a soft drizzle. So I figure this will be a wonderful time to get some blogging done. What fun!! I won't tackle a lot tonight, but I'm hoping to change some backgrounds, pictures, gadgets, etc. OH the things I still have to learn and explore. Can't wait to see what doors God is going to open for me in this 40 day adventure. He has already taught me so much in the past 2 weeks as I started Lysa Terkhurst's Bible Study called, "Unglued" about how to manage my raw emotions with some of the most fabulous ladies from my church. Imperfect progress is what I am striving for these days. I'm so excited!!!!!

Worship...

Worship is a time and place where we are “inspired” (to breathe in) by God’s Word and the story of Jesus Christ in our midst. As God is praised, we are refreshed and replenished, given strength and new life. Worship is an opportunity to “cast off” those things which we do not need. Burdens, confessions, exhortations are given up to God.

Whirlwind

So I just can't believe that it has been this long since my last post! Ok, wait...yes I can. Working multiple jobs, TV to watch, and then most recently, paint, carpet and hard wood to play with...where does the time go. Not really a lot to catch up on, other than we did a garden this summer and we were blessed with an overabundance of tomatoes, but because it was so hot and dry, our corn didn't make it. We tried our hardest to keep everything watered everyday, and we ended up with several peppers (banana and hot) and we even got 3 pumpkins for the fall. That was my favorite because we have never had pumpkins before. I made some notes for next year, such as a larger garden so I can spread some things out more and I probably will take a year off from cucumbers because I have yet to have success with them. We'll see. So my parents came out to visit the weekend of October 18th and we did a lot of stuff. We tore out our 1/2 wall at the front door and laid ceramic tile down at the entry. SO BEAUTIFUL! That was the 1st weekend. The weekend of October 26th, we laid ceramic tile down in front of the sliding glass door in the dining room & painted the wood paneling in the dining room an Irish Cream color. That really changed the look of that room. The weekend of November 2nd we decided to repaint the living room and the hallway a toasted almond color. On November 14th our carpet was laid and then our hard wood floors were laid on November 19th and 20th. Phewwww!! It has been a whirlwind around here. I am so glad that it is all done and we are really enjoying it!! It is like a brand new house. Now if I can just get all of the decoration stuff put back where it belongs, and get the rest of my pictures hung and Christmas decorations out of the tubs, I'll be all set. I am very thankful for my husband through all of this. We make a pretty good team. We both look at our home now and really feel like it is ours because we made all of the choices together and worked hard...TOGETHER! I love him sooo much!! He is so supportive and just plain wonderful! Here are some pictures of some of the things that have happened over the past several months.

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving with David's mom and dad and were sad to see them leave. The guys did some little projects to finish up our "remodel" such as cutting the bottoms off of a couple of our doors so that the doors would close with the new thresholds installed. Nancy and I did some cooking and some shopping, so it was a great weekend all the way around. I'll try to get on here and post some more pictures of the finished home, but I've got a pretty busy month of December. Shopping with my girls on Saturday and then to Virginia for some Christmas celebrations with all of my family. My parents just added on to their house and the room has real logs on the walls, so I'm looking forward to spending Christmas in a log cabin. Hee hee. So that's all for now.
